A risk assessment guideline for determining the need for antibiotic prophylaxis (AP) before dental procedures to prevent Viridans Group Streptococcal (VGS) Infective Endocarditis (IE).
To suggest the antibiotic prophylaxis regimen based on the AHA algorithm for a patient undergoing certain dental procedures.
Use to calculate the algorithm for the American Heart Association (AHA) Antibiotic Prophylaxis (AP) Guidelines for dental procedures. The AHA AP Guidelines take the following parameters into consideration: dental procedures being performed, underlying conditions, ability to take oral medication, allergies to antibiotics, age, and weight. The resulting recommendation includes the type and dosage of antibiotic to be administered as a single dose 30-60 minutes before the procedure.
Not to be used to assess the AP needs for non-dental procedures.
