EVendo Score for Esophageal Varices predicts presence and size of esophageal varices before screening endoscopy.
To predict presence and size of esophageal varices before screening endoscopy.
Use in patients >18 years of age with known or suspected cirrhosis. Formula EVendo Score: A = (8.5 x INR) + (AST, U/L / 35) B = (Platelet count, x 10³/µL / 150) + (BUN, mg/dL / 20) + (Hemoglobin, g/dL / 15) EVendo Score = (A / B) + 1 (if ascites present) Interpretation: EVendo Score Probability of finding varices* Recommendation ≤3.90 <5%** Expectant management >3.90 ≥5% Endoscopy
Do not use in patients with overt GI bleeding or with history of acute variceal hemorrhage.
