An assessment score that assists the diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) Criteria.
To calculate the score for the DSM-5 criteria for PTSD.
Use to calculate the score for the DSM-5 criteria for PTSD. The DSM-5 criteria for PTSD consists of 27 items divided into six categories: Exposure (4 items), Intrusion symptoms (5 items), Avoidance (2 items), Altered mood (7 items), Altered reactivity (6 items), and Additional required criteria (3 items). Each parameter consists of a 1-Yes or 0-No answer. For each categories a numeric total score is calculated as the sum of point of each category. The formula for diagnosing PTSD according to the DSM-5 criteria is the following: - Exposure: Exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence (may be multiple events) (≥ 1 points), - Intrusion symptoms: Symptoms associated with the traumatic event, beginning after the traumatic event occurred (≥ 1 points), - Avoidance: Persistent avoidance of stimuli associated with the traumatic event, beginning after the traumatic event occurred (≥ 1 points), - Altered mood: Negative alterations in cognition and mood associated with the traumatic event, beginning or worsening after the traumatic event occurred (≥ 2 points), - Altered reactivity: Marked alterations in arousal and reactivity associated with the traumatic event, beginning or worsening after the traumatic event occurred (≥ 2 points), - Additional required criteria: must meet all criteria in this category (3 points). Additionally, the diagnosis of PTSD can be accompanied by two types of subsets: dissociative symptoms (Depersonalization and/or Derealization) and/or Delayed Expression.
