The CRIES pain scale assesses pain in neonates. Neonates may experience pain due to underlying disease processes or therapeutic interventions. Since they cannot verbalize pain, assessment relies on careful observation, recognition, and continuous monitoring.
To calculate the total sum for the CRIES score.
The CRIES pain scale evaluates pain in neonates based on five indicators: crying, oxygen requirement, increased vital signs, facial expression, and sleep.
Not to be used in infants who are intubated or paralysed since they cannot cry or grimace.
